Counseling & Guidance

Counseling and Guidance at Innovation Middle School

At iMiddle every student has access to a counselor who will help with school or personal issues. The counselor can help plan the student’s school program, provide academic and personal guidance, and provide many other areas of assistance.

An appointment with the counselor may be requested by filling out a “Request to See Counselor” form or via email.  The forms are available in every classroom, and in the Counseling Center.

Personal and Social Development

In the developmental approach, students have an opportunity to learn more about themselves and others in advance of problem moments in their lives. They learn interpersonal skills before they have an interpersonal crisis.

Career Development and College Access

"Getting what you want starts with knowing who you are!"

Making decisions about careers may seem like a long way off, however it is important to start thinking and planning early. In middle school, we focus on introducing students to career choices and provide experiences for students to think about how their interests and school subjects relate to what they may like to do in a future career. The career curriculum and the college awareness is delivered through the following activities:
  • Classroom guidance lessons on career exploration
  • Classroom guidance and small group presentations on college options
  • Field trips to local area colleges
  • Lunch time activities that introduce and encourage the college option
